Who we are
Vee Scents is an independent fragrance boutique in Kenya and is responsible for the personal information described here. You can reach Virginia by email at virginia@veescents.co.ke or on WhatsApp at +254 723 611 902.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to sell and deliver your fragrances.
- When you order: your name, phone number, delivery town and area, any notes you add and, if you choose to give it, your email address, along with the products, quantities and prices in your order.
- When you contact us: what you send us on WhatsApp or by email.
- Your bag and saved fragrances are stored only in your browser on your device. We don’t receive them unless you place an order.
- Website analytics: we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as pages viewed, the type of device and approximate location. It uses cookies, which you can block in your browser settings.
- We don’t collect card details on this website. Payment is arranged with Virginia on WhatsApp.
How we use it
We use your information to confirm, deliver and support your order, to send your order confirmation, to answer your questions, to keep business and tax records, and to improve the website. We don’t sell your information, and we only send you marketing messages if you ask for them.
Our legal basis
We process your information to perform our contract with you (your order), to meet legal obligations such as keeping tax records, and for our legitimate interest in running and improving our shop, including the website analytics described above. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Who we share it with
We share only what is necessary with the providers that help us run the shop:
- Vercel, which hosts this website.
- Resend, which sends our order emails.
- WhatsApp (Meta), when you message us.
- Google, for our order records (Firebase) and website analytics.
- The courier who delivers your order, who receives your name, phone number and delivery area.
Some of these providers store information outside Kenya. We use established providers that protect personal data with appropriate safeguards, as the Data Protection Act requires. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for up to five years so we can meet tax and accounting requirements. Messages and other details are kept only as long as we need them to look after your order, and then deleted.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act you can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, correct it, delete it (unless we must keep it by law), stop or limit how we use it, or give you a copy. You can also withdraw any consent you have given. To make a request, contact us using the details above.
If you’re unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner at www.odpc.go.ke.
Keeping it safe
This website uses an encrypted connection, and only Vee Scents can see order details in our systems.
Children
Our shop is intended for adults aged 18 and over.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
